Carmel College was Europe’s only Jewish co-educational boarding school. Operating between 1948 and 1997, but is now disused. Enjoy the large open field with riverside frontage. Peaceful surroundings and walks around the college with views of the Thames, the Boat House, the Lake, the Synagogue and unusual architecture. Approx. 1 mile to Wallingford town centre. The Ridgeway passes alongside the site.

Possible walk on Saturday passing a couple of pubs.

Directions

From Oxford take the A4074 to Crowmarsh Gifford Rbt. Continue on the A4074 towards Reading. At the next Rbt. Continue towards Reading for approx. 200 yards and turn right. Signposted Mongewell. Do not turn into pillared gateway to Carmel College. UTCC signs will be posted.
